Ash in Jazbaa

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who’s not starred in a feature film for over five years (her last outing was Guzaarish), is slowly making her presence felt in showbiz again. She may have been away from the limelight but the gorgeous actress has always stood by her Cannes commitment – one she honoured even this year.

The actress who is associated with global cosmetic brand L'Oreal Paris for over a decade, caught up with journos on her rumoured comeback, motherhood and her international commitments excerpts of which we have for you right here:

On her association with cosmetic giant L’Oreal:

"I am very very thankful that my associations are not just for photoshoots or endorsements for a brand. If you are actually a part of such brand for a long time, you end up having many things," the former beauty queen said in a video chat from Cannes with the media earlier this week.

"Yes, we walk the red carpet here (as ambassadors of L'Oreal Paris), get a touch of artistic aspect of this business like styling, makeup, designers, wear gowns... but at the same time, we get an opportunity to interact with the top people of the business," added the actress, who shared the frame with leading lights like Salma Hayek and Eva Longoria, among others, at the Cannes gala this year.

At the movie festival, Aishwarya, as usual wowed with her ethereal beauty.

Talking about her experience at Cannes, she said: "It's family to me."

"I have a long association with Cannes (International) Film Festival. Then, of course, I had privilege of coming here as a jury member. So, the relationship with this festival started on those grounds, which makes it very familiar for me. Now I have a family-like relationship with this fest," Bachchan, who has a 13-year-long association with the festival, said.

On her upcoming Karan Johar film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil:

"Karan and I have hoped to work together many times and the most beautiful part about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is that, finally, we are working together. When he narrated the idea to me, I thought it's wonderful to be telling a love story so different... and above all, Karan directing it," said the actress.

The film, which will also star Ranbir Kapoor, "will and should have Karan's signature (style)", added the actress.

To be shot across the globe – Delhi, New York, London and Paris, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil deals with relationships and heartbreaks. The love story also features Anushka Sharma and the former beauty queen is excited to work with the "wonderful team".

"It's a very beautiful love story that Karan will tell in a real way. Again, it's will be lovely working with Ranbir (Kapoor) and Anushka Sharma."

On motherhood:

She is all of three-and-half years old, but little Aaradhya Bachchan has already got used to the paparazzi, says her celebrity mother.

Just before Aishwarya left for Cannes for her commitment as brand ambassador of L'Oreal Paris and to launch the first look of her forthcoming film Jazbaa, Aishwarya was seen holding on tight to her bundle of joy at the airport. There were shutterbugs galore, but both mother and daughter remained unfazed.

"Every time we walk out of the airport, house, there are people around, camera is around. I guess, I think she was born to believe it is like this... this is normal to her," the actress said.

"The mother in me will be protective. Media want bytes, photos... So I am going to be protective about her. It is a natural instinct. From her end, there is no major chatter," she added.

The actress will be seen in Jazbaa, a film by Sanjay Gupta too, the first look launch of which was launched at the festival.

The poster features Aishwarya looking distressed and scrabbling in the dust with a city's skyline behind her.

Jazbaa will see Bachchan doing some daredevil stunts and she is said to have shot for the film in extreme conditions.

A remake of South Korean film Seven Days, also features Irrfan Khan, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Atul Kulkarni, Abhimanya Singh, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Siddhant Kapoor. Produced by Essel Vision, White Feather Films and Viking Entertainment, it is slated to release on 9 October 2015.

Looks like the original diva has her plate full over the next few months at least.
