With five blockbusters, Deepika Padukone is flying high

It must be fun being Deepika Padukone right now. The actress has slowly worked her way up the Bollywood ladder, to become undoubtedly one of the most successful actresses in recent times. And it's not as if she piggy-backed on a male co-star or had a godfather in the industry. She seems to have done it entirely on her own steam and delivered not one, not two, but a whopping FIVE blockbusters at the box office — Cocktail, Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and now Ram-leela.

The icing on the cake is that she's proved her mettle and versatility as an actress too. So much so that senior figures like Amitabh Bachchan can't stop singing her praises. And the latest to join the DP fan club is none other than reputed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.

"The biggest compliment which I got for Ram-leela was from Shekhar Kapur. I received a message from him which says that I have added so many layers to Leela that even Shakespeare didn't think while writing for Juliet. For me, that's the big compliment," said Deepika to IANS.

"All I can say is I am thankful to God and I am enjoying every moment of it. It is very overwhelming for me that Ram-leela is doing so well. It's a perfect combination of what I ideally want for all my films, being critically acclaimed as well as doing well at the box office," she finished off.

Deepika will next be seen in Homi Adajania's Finding Fanny Fernandes, a satire produced by Saif Ali Khan's Illuminati Films and co-starring Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur. The film is based on a road trip set in Goa and follows the journey of five characters.

She will also be seen in her third film with Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan's Happy New Year, the team with whom she made her debut with Om Shanti Om back in 2007. And as if that wasn't enough, the actress will also reprise her chemistry from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with ex real life beau Ranbir Kapir Kapoor in Imtiaz Ali's next.
