First Look: 'Galliyan' from 'Ek Villain' strikes all the right chords

Sidharth-Shraddha make for a very good looking couple indeed

Director Mohit Suri has an ear for fine music. The soundtrack of Aashiqui 2 is still lingering around on most playlists a year on, and is hands down one of the finest albums in the last decade at least.

If the first track of his next, 'Galliyan' from Ek Villain is anything to go by, then this album too seems to be headed in the same direction.

'Galliyan' sung with soulful gusto by Ankit Tiwari, describes the heart wrenching longing of unobtainable love and seems to have a lot more depth than Tiwari's previous track 'Sunn Raha Hai' from Aashiqui 2.

The song's picturesque visuals are further enhanced by Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor, both of whom looking annoyingly photogenic and aptly, hopelessly in love.

I've been looking forward to Ek Villian ever since it was announced, and after catching a glimpse of this clip I genuinely can't wait for the film.

In Ek Villain, Sidharth gets to explore his dark side and plays a damaged character who falls in love with Shraddha’s character.

Apparently, Sidharth’s mother was rather taken aback after catching a glimpse of her usually shy and reserved son in the teaser trailer of the film, as she feels it's in stark contrast to his real life personality.

"I am essaying a very different role in Ek Villain. It is unlike what I have done previously. The teaser trailer has received positive feedback from all quarters and it is overwhelming,” said Sidharth.

Shraddha’s back in familiar terrain (Aashiqui 2 was directed by Mohit), but I’m curious to see how Riteish (Deshmukh) will pull off playing an antagonist, given that he’s mainly only played comic roles or the hero's sidekick until now.

Ek Villain may prove to be the dark horse this summer — Sidharth showed a lot of promise in Hasee Toh Phasee, and I think him and Shraddha as an on screen couple will make for enough eye candy and make the film nice to look at if nothing else.

The film hits theatres at the fag end of June.

Meanwhile, what are your thoughts on 'Galliyan'?
