Possibly one of the most talked about celebrity couples, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have allegedly split.

Reports appearing in prominent Mumbai dailies claim that the couple had an ugly spat on their recent visit to New York, and after a fair bit of dilly-dallying, the couple broke up and decided to go their separate ways.

Rumour mills insist that Katrina was keen on a commitment from Ranbir, but the latter was in no mood to be tied down, especially since he has several huge films in the pipeline, and marriage at this stage could affect his saleability as a star.

This bit of news comes as a surprise especially after Kareena Kapoor’s candid comments about the couple on Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee with Karan, and the couple’s recent numerous appearances at a film screening and several parties. In fact the couple even threw caution to the wind and flew to Ibiza last year, but unknowingly got papped by an ardent fan, who leaked the photos all across the internet. 

Katrina hadn’t taken too kindly to the photos, and at the time had even issued an official statement justifying the same, and till date, neither of them have openly admitted to seeing each other

Says a source, “While Kat is at that stage in her career where she is ready for marriage, RK feels that it could damage his soaring success. The duo flew to New York to bring in the New Year but returned separately. There were reports that the actress had decided to stay back because she was unwell but it is now learnt that the couple had a fight in NY when Katrina brought up marriage and the Kapoor boy said he wasn’t ready and needed to focus on his career. Sadly Katrina herself doesn’t know where they are headed today... She still loves him but Ranbir has told his friends that they have broken up. Both are giving each other some space at the moment.”

Katrina is probably keen to seal the deal, especially given that she seems to have been ousted from the top spot, by none other than Ranbir’s ex Deepika Padukone, who’s career has soared to the stratosphere. In fact, there was even some tension between the rumoured couple when Ranbir and Deepika scored a massive hit in the form of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and thereafter with Katrina’s name being omitted from Deepika’s grand success bash a couple of months ago.

Apparently Deepika always held Katrina responsible for her break up with the Kapoor lad. Whether there’s any truth to these rumours is not yet known.

Ranbir’s roving eye has often been a hot topic of debate, but many insiders thought  that Katrina would definitely make an honest man out of him.
