Filmmakers continue to show faith in Shahid Kapoor
He has talent in abundance and has proven it time and again in films like Jab We Met (2007) and Kaminey (2009), but it seems Shahid Kapoor hasn’t quite made the cut at the box office yet. None of his films have been huge money spinners, and yet filmmakers continue to show faith in his capabilities and insist that Kapoor will turn his fortunes around this year despite his last couple of releases tanking at the box office.
On his birthday (25 February), India Today approached a few of the filmmakers that Kapoor is shooting with and this is what they had to say:
"I always knew Shahid was extremely talented. Now when I've worked with him, I am amazed at how versatile he really is. In my film, he has to portray both dark and light shades. He handles both the comic and dramatic scenes with equal ease. His mother-son scenes with Padmini Kolhapure brought tears to my eyes. And he is so hands-on on the sets, it's a delight to work with an actor so focused on his work. I am definitely working with Shahid again," said Raj Kumar Santoshi who’s working with him in Phata Poster Nikla Hero.
"I really like Shahid as an actor. Kaminey blew my mind. Actually, so did bits of Fida. I feel he's very versatile though he's known mainly for his romantic roles. I feel there is a lot more potential in there," said Bejoy Nambiar who directed David (2013) and Shaitan (2011).
Nambiar has reportedly cast Shahid as a psychologically disturbed character in his next.
Prabhudheva who starts working on Rambo Rajkumar with Kapoor feels that the Kaminey star is a great dancer and hopes his film will turn his fortunes around.
With such prolific filmmakers continuing to show their faith in him, we have no doubt that Kapoor will turn it around and bounce back this year. Phata Poster Nikla Hero sees him with Ileana D'Cruz and Rambo Rajkumar pairs him with Sonakshi Sinha.
Meanwhile, we would like to take this opportunity to wish the star a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.
