Trailer Watch: 'Shaandaar'
Shaandaar was always going to be special. It’s Vikas Bahl’s first film post last year’s sleeper gem Queen and features an ageless Shahid who seems to be hitting all the right notes in his first pairing with czarina in the making Alia.
Although, that’s not the only thing Shaandaar has going for it. Besides the leading duo’s cutesy chemistry, it’s Shahid’s camaraderie with real life pop Pankaj Kapur is where the trailer really scores. The father-son duo seem to share an easy, pally, light hearted chemistry which sparkles through in the few scenes they share together and their pairing seems to promise quite a few laughs come fall.
In Shaandaar, Shahid plays Joginder a no-nonsense wedding planner who falls for the bride’s sister Alia, and the subsequent comedy of errors that ensues. Neither Shahid nor Alia seem to be playing out of their comfort zone so this joint Dharma-Phantom-Fox venture which is banking heavily on their chemistry (and seems to have already succeeded), was probably a walk in the park for the duo, and they seem to have had a blast shooting for it too.
Shaandaar also features Sanjay Kapoor, Sanah Kapoor, Sushma Seth, Diljit Dosanjh and Karan Johar in a cameo and hits ticket windows 22 October. Are you looking forward to the film?

An overlong, over-cooked, often cumbersome slog that occasionally fires up because of its glorious leads, but eventually peters out.
