British actor Mark Strong in the running to play Lex Luthor in 'Man Of Steel 2'
Warner Bros. obviously want to strike while the iron's hot. With their big summer release Man Of Steel, turning out to be the big summer cash cow execs had expected, rumours are rife that the studio have already fast tracked the sequel to the blockbuster, and that the anticipated follow up to the superhero smash could arrive as early as next year!
With all the buzz, comes the latest rumour that British actor Mark Strong, who's starred in films like RocknRolla, Body of Lies, Syriana, The Young Victoria, Sherlock Holmes, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Kick-Ass, Zero Dark Thirty, Robin Hood, and John Carter, is the front runner to star as the film's main antagonist and Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor.
There's a catch though. Strong has already starred as a DC character — Sinestro, in the Ryan Reynolds disaster, Green Lantern a little over two years ago. But if Marvel can get Chris Evans to star as both hot head Human Torch and Avenger Captain America, we don't see why Warner couldn't do the same too.
What did you think of Man Of Steel? Is Strong the ideal actor to play the part or was he better as Sinestro in Green Lantern? Will he be as good as Gene Hackman was in the original? Do let us know below, and don't forget to read our Man of Steel review while you're at it!
