Parineeti had nothing do with Priyanka bagging Gunday

​Parineeti was never approached for Gunday according to Yash Raj Films.

Rumour mills had a field day recently implying that it was at Parineeti Chopra's behest that cousin Priyanka Chopra bagged the lead role in Gunday. However, the head honchos at Yash Raj Films are nothing but amused at the insinuations and insisted that Priyanka was the only choice for the role, and that Parineeti had nothing to do with the film's casting.

“They needed a top actress for Gunday to lend weight to the project as both lead actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are relatively new," said a source to DNA India.

Rafique Gangjee from Yash Raj Films adds, “No one needs to ‘recommend’ a Priyanka Chopra! And no, neither Anushka nor Parineeti were approached for the role. Both these queries are untrue.”

Makes perfect sense though. A two film Parineeti is hardly in any position to recommend names to Yash Raj Films when she herself is still learning the tricks of the trade.

Gunday is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and tells the story of two coal thieves, who go on become powerful members of the mafia. In addition to Arjun-Ranveer-Priyanka, the film also stars Irrfan Khan and releases towards the end of this year.
